This shy, undiscovered mine of production talent known as Willie The Pimp (aka Wez Storey, whose claim to fame is that he used to live with Vera Duckworth’s daughter) might not have been discovered at all if it hadn’t been for a chance dinner appointment at a restaurant next door to his studio. When Silicon Hustler’s boss Garry was taking his missus out for a bit out light dinner, Willie The Pimp’s future-tech rhythms threatened to shake the gateaux from off the counter. When the restaurant owner (who is Wez’s landlord) had a rather determined look about him in the direction of wez’s flat, Garry pointed out how much the customers were enjoying it, and how his tenant was going to be on Top Of The Pops one day, preventing sure eviction…
Now taking Silicon Hustler into deeper territory, Willie The Pimp opens up enemy lines with this first original, made-for-silicon-hustler track, 'Dig Deep'. An excursion in turbo funk, this first release under the ‘bona fide’ series continues to explore the electro sound and is delivered with detailed execution. Already rocking floors in Germany – the label managers knew this track had the winning formula when they listened to 1500 clubheads in Dusseldorf scream for more (via the DJ’s Nokia) !.
This mature sounding debut from this Liverpool based producer is just the tip of the iceberg, so you'd better watch this space !
